What a coincidence! I am an LDS too, and I do real estate consulting and investing. I am also very into philanthropies. Thanks for the input, I am now following you on Twitter.

I want to personally thank all of you who took the extra time to comment here. It means a lot to me.

I'm glad I was able to contribute to Blog Action Day in some small way. How did my participation come about? I saw lots of folks on the net and twitter talking about Blog Action Day — all doing their bit. So I checked into it to see what it was all about. What a great cause! I decided to write a post myself.

After I published it, I went to work, proactively promoting other writers' efforts. I commented on their articles, adding my thoughts about poverty, and giving "way to go's". This was getting exciting! I submitted their posts to social bookmark sites like digg, mixx, stumbleupon, propeller, and wrote little reviews there as well. I gave thumbs up and kudos along the way. I followed up with shouts and links to the submitted bookmarks. I tweeted links on twitter.

I was also hoping that others would reciprocate by linking to and commenting on my post here, so we could get the "circle of love" synergy thing going, thus amplifying everyone's effort. And the Blog Action Day-Poverty initiative would be the beneficiary.

So thanks again for your effort to this cause.

- Shayne

Thank you, Shayne, for sharing your story. Thank you too for stopping by mu site and commenting on my blog action day post. This is an important topic and it's been amazing to read what so many other have written and to see the pictures and videos that so many people have posted. It's good to know there is both compassion and a desire for justice in the world.

One way to help out that is fun and educational is to play free rice. It is a vocabulary game and for every definition that you get right Free rice donates so many grains of rice to a third world country.
Also some interesting facts from the World hunger facts site. The world produces enough food for every man, women and child to have 4200 calories a day. It would take approximately 300 billion dollars. This is about the amount the USA and the European Union spends on perfume each year. World Hunger Facts site has many suggestions you might all find interesting.
